Weekend Hooky

The weather in our neck of the woods has been so bipolar lately. Mother Nature can literally not decide whether she wants to be summer or autumn. Friday night was so cold we actually went hunting for winter socks and blankies. Saturday was equally bleak. Which turned out to be awesome as hubby and I spent a blissful day in bed watching they rugby and lots and lots of hooky! Still destashing, I had some yarn left from the big block blanket so I whipped up these two cuties. The inspiration came from the first issue of Simply Crochet magazine.  This morning I quickly made up the cushion covers (I must just say that I really, really despise needlework.) and sewed the crochet covers to the front.  I just looooovvvvvveeeeee the colours and  as a bonus, hubby loves it too!

The cushion covers worked up so quickly, I even had time to do some borders for my dishtowels. I reclaimed this old wooden ladder, white-washed it, and it's now the 'shelve' for my dishtowels in the scullery. But pretty towels need pretty hooky edgings, don't you think?

I think next time I'm at a kitchen goody store, I'll buy extra dishtowels and add some edgings. It'll make such cute last minute gifts.

Happy hooking,
Bxx
