My love affair with Elle's Pure Gold is no secret. Apart from Vinnis cotton, Pure Gold is truly my go-to yarn. As far as acrylic's go, this yarn is honestly in a league of its own. It really doesn't matter how often you wash it, or whether your kids (and dog!) drag it through the house, it retains its shape, looks newly made and is super, super soft. And then there are the colours. Literally to die for!
For the last 12 months or so, every time I completed a project with Pure Gold, I would take the left over yarn and make up 5 row grannies. When I checked the other day, I had more than enough to finish a full blanket. All I had to do was buy a couple of balls of Pepper to crochet it all together and finish the border.
I just love, love, love the happy, crazy, randomness of this blanket. Another awesome addition to the blanket stash in the TV room.
The border comes out of Edie Eckman's book, Around The Corner Crochet Borders. It's a magnificent book. If you don't have a copy already, its well worth the purchase. I changed the border a bit. Instead of doing scallops in the final round, I changed it to dc. I wanted a more unisex, unfussy border.
Yarny goodness in the tv room!
Every second Saturday I take a drive down to Sasolburg, some 95km's from home, where I teach a crochet class. I love visiting these ladies. Their sheer enthusiasm for crochet is fantastic.
Most of them have now mastered the basic stitches, and their blankies are growing every time I visit. It's such a joy to see how people just take a new skill and run with it!
